Mambolifestyle Course

The Mambolifestyle Course is the most important class you can take in your dance career. The hallmark of the Danzalifestyle System, this course focuses on breaking down all the elements of Mambo with a systematic approach to leave you with a deeper command of the dance.

Level: Intermediate (Beginners who like a challenge are welcome!)

You will Learn the 7 Pillars of Mambo through the 5 Elements of Mambolifestyle :

SPIRIT

• 3 On 2 timings and musicality
• 5 different basic steps ( be able to follow any dancer or learn from any teacher!) and their application to shines and partner work

FREEDOM

• Contrabody Movement or Cuban Motion and its application to the basic steps shines and partner work
• Body movement to music interpretation and 25 different qualities of movements or dinamics

STYLE

• Styling techniques for shines and partner work

JAM

• Over 50 different shines to 25 different rhythms and 5 different instrument

TORNADO

• Spinning technique to improve your spinning and apply to any spinning technique

UNION

• Syllabus for partner work from all 5 basic steps and 3 timings

CREATIVE UNION

• Partner work with musicality and flavour

Musicality Course

This is a 3-month course that explores everything from the history to the various styles, to the instrumentation of Mambo. You’ll leave this course with not only a better understanding of Salsa music, but an ability to interpret any song you hear on the dance floor. Oh, and did we mention you’ll be working with a live musician?

Topics Include:

• History of Salsa and Mambo
• Styles of Salsa music and finding your preferences
• Instrumentation in salsa music and how to interpret
• How to find the rhythm of any song

Salsanama is all about becoming truly you on the dancefloor and expressing your emotions and
intentions in a fun and connected ay.
This new way to train increases your confidence and develops your improvisation skills both for
social dancing and competition
By taking this class you will be able to “read” any teacher at any workshop as well as to unleash your
unique style and attitude
We regularly travel to Milan and train with other Salsanama Teachers and Dancers.

Drills and technique for each shine type or family (suzy Qs, Crossovers, SWINGS, Toe heels etc)
Shines combinations and routines
Musicality for each shine
How to use your body to maximise musicality
Improvisation skills both on your own and with a partner
Battle skills to increase your confidence

Performance Skills Course

A unique approach to help you achieve your dreams! This is a unique course designed specifically to train you to become the performer you want to be!

WHO IS IT FOR:
Dancers of all genders who:
– Wish to perform at pre-professional level in Salsa, Mambo or Bachata

– Who might have already performed in student teams but wish to develop further

– Whose dream is to compete or become a professional artist

WHAT TO EXPECT
This class has a big exploration and creativity component.

As part of the Artist Track you will both create your own choreographies, learn choreographies, and perform them as part of the IMA Artist Track Team as well as have the opportunity to audition for Irene Miguel’s pre-professional company Danzalifestyle Crew.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
The level expected to join this class is intermediate/advanced. If your level is lower, Irene will advise what you need to do before joining the Artist Track.

To join, you must have done the Mambolifestyle system – this is a requirement to join this class. You may do it parallel to the class, but it is crucial to have the minimum level required for the Artist Track.

Minimum commitment: 3 months
Please note the course runs annually and a longer commitment is recommended to see true improvement and results.

IMA DANCERS

For dancers that are committed and want to go even deeper in their training as a performer, IMA has two teams: IMA Amateur Dancers and IMA Semi-Pro Dancers teams. They perform around the country and at select congresses globally.

These teams are invite only. Dancers who wish to have a place on these teams must have first taken both a Mambolifestyle Course and must also enroll in the Performance Skills Course. Please indicate in the registration form below if you’d like to join these teams.
